new house

Yesterday we closed on a new house. Hard to imagine we have been married 13 years soon (may 24) and we have owned 3 homes in 3 states. CRAZY!

I think my sister-in-law is having a baby right now as I write this .... HAPPY DAY!! Their second little girl & it is exciting! So I'm giving her a shout!!

Today was a day only I can have! It started out like most days do ~ EARLY! I packed up a truckful of stuff to take to the house so we could stay at the house instead of moving back & forth. It was to much for Espen & I to be traveling all the time. So MY truck was LOADED... we were crammed in there... and I had to put the pets in.... OH MY GOSH ... it was like the circus. I carried 2 cats & the 2 dogs on leash all at the same time. AND pushed them into the Lincoln. And we were off... I thought I was doing pretty good at knowing how to get from where we were staying to the new house. BUT NOT the case. I ended up halfway to Lincoln NE with NO GAS. I couldn't reach my garmin and I was upset. Espen was crying & the cats were misbehaving. My fish FRANKY was the only one who was OK! After a frantic call to Doug & a stop at a gas station it seemed like I was 19 miles away along a country road... so I took it... and we DROVE THROUGH THE COUNTRY. Well it may have been a lovely drive had I not had 4 pets & an upset baby.... Needless to say ~ we made it... and I vowed to not leave the house again today!

Espen & I played... wandered around... and unloaded the truck.... OH MY GOSH it was alot! Then I lost a cat. Tangles disappeared. I looked everywhere. When Espen took his afternoon nap ~ I decided to CLEAN THE KITCHEN. It is where I'm putting my food & things & IT WAS DIRTY... geesh these people were not clean. It took me HOURS. And I discovered I had to go out to Target for shelf paper... but it was a quick trip... Tonight the kitchen and eat in area are spotless... the windows, cabinets, floor, EVERYTHING has been scrubbed. It feels good and clean. I took down the blinds & curtains and the smell is starting to leave the area.

When you don't smoke & you move into a house with carpet (which you haven't had) and was owned by a family of smokers IT IS A BIG STINKY DEAL.... so we are getting the smell out... slowly...

Tomorrow I'll start on the bathroom... have some wallpaper to take out so I can paint and we can do the floor... has to be done before my new washer is deliverd on May 10....

I broke the light that will hang over the kitchen table. There is NO floor left in the downstairs.

MY missing cat has been found... she was up on a TALL shelf in the garage all day... geesh... I had written her off...

And tomorrow is a new day... and I have my beautiful baby... we are going on an adventure tomorrow with our special pass to Nebraska Furniture Mart...
