Hair Cut

Yesterday (at 13+ months of age) I took Espen to a barber for a haircut. I recognized that his curls needed cut ~ his hair is dry, unruly & honestly I have no idea how to take care of it but I'm learning. So we waited for about an hour & a half for a hair cut. While we waited, the men talked to him, he played in an empty barber chair, he watched other young black men get hair cuts. And I fretted. But I kept it together. So his turn finally came & he would NOT sit in the chair. The barber combed his hair & stood him in front of a mirror. Espen was smiling & laughing at himself. The barber had some things to tell me about his hair... like that it hurt when I combed it because it was so tangled & dry. That it was a notted mess. Not to wash it everyday no matter how much food he gets up there (just rinse it out). OK OK so I listened. And we have to find some good conditioner for him. Then he got the clippers and he quietly and quickly took off all my baby's curls. A kind lady waiting for her husband got my camera and took some pics. Doug LOVES Espen's haircut... says he looks like a "big boy". Well... I miss the baby curls. And Espen knows the word hair & last night he just kept touching his head & saying HAIR... GEESH...

So the pictures.... Espen before his hair cut, during the cut & after.... YES indeed he got it trimmed around the neck, ears & forhead... JUST LIKE A BIG BOY....

UH..... I'll get over the fact that he won't be a baby forever....

So today I have to make some attempt (for Doug's sake) to take the Lincoln to the DMV for the registration/tags.... UGH... After this trip I should not have to go there again until my license expires. It is just a pain to do. And the day is sunny & I don't feel like being in there waiting! But if I do it I'll be done!!! And then I should totally go to wally world and get a NEBRASKA hoodie! Because we'll be CORNHUSKERS!
