My Life..... met someone at the DMV!
Sometimes don't you wonder about timing and quirky twists of fate?
Last week when my sister was here the husband was complaining at me about how we had been here for a few weeks and I had not gotten our registration or drivers license changed. NOT THE PRIORITY on my brain. BUT Shanna watched Espen for me and off I went to the DMV. I was not looking forward to that... the lines I assumed would be mighty and the people grouchy. So I got there (hadn't been away from my baby in weeks) and checked the line for the DL (medium length) so went to vehicle registration ~ no line! I went up to the nice man and said I was new to Nebraska and needed to get my two cars tags. The lady at the window next to me heard me say I was new and said she was too. She looked pretty down to earth and was kindly telling the woman helping her that she had gotten emotional dropping her son off at camp. I could relate to being new and alone! So we exchanged numbers. Honestly the DMV in Nebraska is the kindest place. And fast!!
Finally I called the lady I met at the DMV and we met for lunch today at Wheatfields (great food). And she was outgoing and funny and charming and we had a lovely lunch. Just lovely. So the hubby wanted to know how my lunch date went ~ my new friend interview. I told him great!
And Espen did well for a one year old! It is nice to meet people that are comfortable with a little boy who behaved like he is supposed to. Not everyone can hang with a one year old!!
And then Espen and I went with the young neighbor to the pool! Oh he loves the pool. It was crowded with teens but still wet and cool on a hot summer day!!! And the neighbor was nice to visit with. Espen especially had a lovely time on the baby slide and in the big pool during "adult swim". THEN all the youth started running and jumping and he didn't like that so much. It was fun but not the chilling relaxing time at the pool. I think we will go again and perhaps check some other pools.... the summer is young..... the days will be hot and we will be at the pool!
