Feb 15 ~ 2011

I started off sort of late this morning. Got up at 7 and had to leave at 7:20 to drop my 12 year old friend off on time. Needless to say, Espen was also sleeping late. But we made it & to my surprise I got him there on time!

Then we swung by the grocery store for some items. We got our few items & then Espen spotted this young man cleaning from under the cold drink coolers at the registers. He was using a shop vac & some air compressor. Espen was fascinated so we stood & chatted with the young man & watched for about 10 minutes. Espen was thrilled. I looked crazed! I hadn't showered & had mismatched clothes on. I had some granola smeared on my sleeve & pants. Yea that is one HOT look. But alas it was what it was... it is not about how I look but about the experience I give to my beautiful little boy! So finally we were on our way home. I had some things to do....I had invited my neighbor over today for lunch. She just had a baby a couple weeks ago & is at home. And I of course am looking to expand my friend pool. She was coming at 11:30am.

Thats when things went down hill!! Espen is somehow fascinated with his poop. He tells me often he has to poop & sits on the toliet. When I am not thinking clearly, he sneaks off & undresses himself & takes off his diaper and BAM.... bad things happen. So today he was quitely playing with some puzzles in his room & he got really quiet. I was finishing the dishes & thought I'd just finish. By the time I got out of the kitchen, he had undressed and smeared poop on himself, the walls & the floor. And he was giggling. When he saw me, he giggled & ran towards my bathroom. UUUGGGGHHHHH..... I just cried. And yelled for him to stop. I don't want to scare him because pooping is not scary. But I want him to stop this odd fascinating behavior! So before my neighbor arrived I had to put Espen in the tub, clean the floors & walls and get myself dressed. DAUNTING tasks!

The baby was so cute! A tiny little girl. Espen was that tiny once. It was delightful to hold her. And my wonderful little son was a tiny bit concerned about who mommy was holding and decided to sit nearly on the baby.... then he sat next to me, patted his lap & said very firmly, "I do it". OH no he did not!! I got his baby doll for him to hold. He then just wanted to hold her hand. It was cute!

We enjoyed lunch & a nap & a visit. Only to find out that they are moving at the end of March. I am not doing well in the friend efforts! But today was nice. And she suggested we get together next week also. So it is a diversion!

We then picked up our young charge from school & headed home to play outside. I decided to clean the back yard up some because I am tired of chasing Espen to keep him out of the street. So as I was doing this, Espen found a pile of dog poop I had missed & being so HELPFUL with his little shovel, he picked it up. It fell off his shovel so he picked it up with his little hand. UUUGGGHHHH..... Mind you my baby had complained today about his leg hurting & he kept pulling his pants off to see what was hurting. I couldn't keep pants on him so I put shorts on him. So he was in new shoes & shorts with a hoodie on. And POOP! So I finished what I was doing while he played in the mud. And then we went in for another bath....

So by the time Doug came home, I was tired... just tired! And now I'm going to go to bed ... early like a little old lady... my in-laws arrived tomorrow... the Orkin man comes tomorrow & I think I am going to take the baby to the library. Busy full day... and a weekend of company... (no big deal... there are always people here!!).

(if anyone has any suggestions on the poop fascination.... i welcome them!)
