Happy Cinco De Mayo... yep.. I enjoyed my first beer at nap time!
My plan today was to walk from the apartment to downtown Dodge City to the only art gallery (historical building) in town. Anders thought I was crazy. The apartment is on 14th & the gallery on 2nd... plus about 8 blocks the other way also... Well we did it! And it was by far the most pleasant day I've had in along time!!! It is one thing I miss terribly about Lansing IL... my ability to walk to a destination!! So we walked and enjoyed the sunshine. We had lunch (at Sonic). We stopped at Boot Hill (tourist hot spot) and the gallery (very cool ~ made me miss the Firehouse in Del Rio) and also crossed the main drag & the railroad to get to the park & zoo. It was some walking! But BOB is a great thing & Espen is always up for a walk...
The art gallery had an exhibit by a man who likes hotwheels!! So Espen was thrilled to see paintings & drawings of little cars & there was a table of hotwheels. So it was clever! And the upstairs had a dome with original stained glass... It was a VERY cool space & I'd throw one heck of a party there!! A good gallery for Dodge City. But it needs some fun music playing & a more inviting entry way... I honestly could see myself in a place like that.... And the intersting thing for me was the Director (very nice lady, chatted for a long time with her) had a tattoo on her forearm that said "I AM SECOND". And I failed to ask her the meaning. Interesting!!!
We ended our day with a trip to Wal-Mart, another visit to the park and the liquor store for Cinco de Mayo supplies!! And of course some delish food.... went to an authentic Mexican joint.. it was YUMMY YUMMY!! And now Anders continues to study.... and reminds me of his next check ride being on May 21.... he will be ready!!
