The things you learn about yourself when you have a 2 year old are amazing... For example.. today I had Espen help me (and I'll use help loosely) make banana bread... why? Well we had some rotten bananas & some new neighbors & I'm trying to fit into Nebraska (it is freaking hard)... and why his help? It wasn't nap time yet & I wanted to get it started. And it is good for him! So we were measuring & counting & he was a mess. And he wanted to crack the eggs open... so I gave him an egg not even thinking he knew what to do to crack it open.. and to my utter surprise he wacked it on the side of the mixing bowl & poured the egg down the side of the counter and man it made a mess... We finally got the bread done and I cleaned up all the mess (for the most part) and baked it!! He can have a special treat later! But what I learned about me is that I didn't mind that kind of mess... it was a mess... and not fun to clean... but I think it is good for little boys to help in the kitchen & he loves every second of it... someday he will run from the kitchen but for today... I enjoyed the mess!
