Fish, Hike & Beer
We had a family day today! We went to Louisville, Nebraska. I wanted to see about this aquarium out there. It was certainly not the Shed Aquarium but it was a good place for Espen. It is called the Ak-Sar-Ben Aquarium. It is at Schramm State Park. The drive was not long and was pretty. It was $1 to enter to see the fish. There were native fish. It was nice. They had animal artifacts that Espen could touch and look at. Our plan was to see the fish, have a picnic and hike. We did just that!! There were hiking trails totally 3 miles in length. We hiked about 1.2 miles. Espen did pretty well. He got tired and wandered some, lay down some and found some little boy treasures!! It rained a bit on us but it didn't dampen our day. I'd recommend the area. It was pretty, quiet, clean and for the most part, free!
On the way home I spotted a sign for the Soarning Wings winery and brewery. Well of course I wanted to stop. It was a lovely place. Lots of outdoor seating overlooking the Platte River and vineyards. A stage for music. I can't speak to the wine but the beer wasn't bad. Clever little find in the middle of virtually no where!! (http://www.soaringwingswine.com/) I would most definitely return when there is music there. I'd bring my snacks and enjoy a beer and a good view. I'd be sure Hannah could stay with Espen. Today he took off into the vineyards to see if he could pick some grapes.... not the child friendliest place... but hey... we can't expect him to behave at a nice place if we never take him.
So our day was good. We explored some of Nebraska. We did it under $20! And we got some cute pics of our little guy!
