The GIANT LEAF pile
It is fall. When all the leaves fall and I am forced to look at the yard and wish for a giant wind to sweep all the leaves into the neighbors yard. Not because I am lazy but because they have paid services to come do the yard! I don't have that service... I have a rake and a leaf blower and I know how to use them. Doug thinks I won't break them so I am still allowed to use them!!
No lucky wind however and I had to rake today. One tree must have dropped millions of leaves! I raked and used the leaf blower for what seemed like a VERY long time! The pile was the biggest I have ever made. The glory is that my child loves to play in leaf piles. The giggles started shortly after diving into the giant pile.
As I stood there raking the pile back up after a few jumps I thought .... DAM I AM AN AMAZING MOM. HERE I STAND RAKING AND RAKING SO MY KID CAN KEEP JUMPING.
Then the neighbor kid came over on his bike. The boys and bikes and ramps all got drug into the lawn. Oh this happens here. I know it happens at other homes. When you open the door and crazy just happens! Crazy happens here most days. Just drive by and you will see!
The neighbor kid kept a close watch on his house. He is not allowed to jump in leaf piles when his dad rakes he told me. I am guessing he would have been admonished for jumping in my pile?!
The boys jumped and dove. They hid and crawled through. They had a blast. Then they did stunts and crashed and tried to ride completely through the pile. They covered up and told tall tales. And I thought.... DAM I NOT ONLY RAKE UP THIS MOUNTAIN OF LEAVES BUT I ALLOW CRAZY TO HAPPEN WITH RAMPS AND BIKES AND BOYS AND FLIPS AND IT IS ALL GOOD. That's right.... IT IS ALL GOOD. This moment was just perfect. Just as it should be. No other task needed doing more then hearing the laughter. I laughed along with them. I threw leaves at them. I raked some more. The neighbors drove past and wondered about my sanity and the giant leaf pile they were thankful was not in their yard!
It took 8 bags and 4 trash cans to pick up the pile of leaves from just a portion of my yard. What a stinking mess.... But I am that awesome mom. My son may not remember tomorrow the pile we had today but I will. I make the time to do these grand things with my son. Because it matters.
