Well there is good news ~ we have a contract on our house and we made an offer that was accepted on a house in NE. So barring any weird circumstances (and I am sure there will be some) we will be closing at the beginning of April and the moving truck will arrive. The new house has some work that we will need to do after we close on it and then the truck can arrive to unload the stuff. Seamless... yea RIGHT!
**************************************************************************In the meantime I celebrate a birthday next week & my drivers license was going to expire. So off I went to the DMV today to renew it. We arrived and the line was out the door.... NOT a good sign. But we had just had lunch & my assistant had a short nap in the car so I thought we could see how long it would be.
To my surprise & delight the line was moving along at a good clip! So our wait was about 15 minutes to the first window where the young lady took my old one asked if there were any changes and paperclipped a paper to the license. We then had to stand between the blue ropes. This is where you pay. I was informed there that if I used my debit card I would have to pay 65 cents more. Well writing a check while holding a 9 month old is nearly impossible and the line behind me was grouchy. So I paid the 65cents! While I was signing my name to the slip of paper, my trusty assistant grabbed the cable and UNPLUGGED the computer system.... OOPS... so I apologized for his grabbing curious hands and patiently waited for the lady to reboot so I could have my reciept & be told the next instructions. We then had to wait at the VISION line. It was here that the man behind me decided to entertain my assistant. Which caused some lurching around to play peek-a-boo. When it was my turn, the lady looked at me and saw that i was wearing glasses and then asked me if I wanted to take them off to do the vision test.... DUH did I have a choice? So I smiled & said well I need them to see. And she said then leave them on. Okey then! So I put my face to the vision box & read the line PERFECTLY! But I couldn't see my assistant who was reaching for a FULL basket of pens. And as the lady asked me if I could see the flashing light in my periphial vision and to identify the side I saw it I felt that basket fly off the counter & I heard the pens crash & roll all over the tiled floor. And my assistant is so smart his comment was "uh-oh"! (Which I simply agreed). I apologized to the lady for the pens & told her that I didn't see either side flashing because I was trying to limit the damage my assistant was causing. She said OK and handed my license back to me and told me to wait in the photograph area. HUH.... I picked up the basket & pens ~ yes you guessed it NOT A SINGLE PERSON in the line behind me bent over to help me. And we waited for the picture to be taken. Where to my surprise the kind older man just took ONE picture and quickly handed me the new DL! And we were out of there... total time about 1 hour... Not bad, not bad... and only some small damage!! And totally NOT my fault! It is hard to keep small grabby hands occupied when the facility is NOT child friendly.... :) So now I have a fresh license and when I get to Omaha I will have to get a new one... and maybe, just maybe I will time it and go when I have a guest or visitor to go with me!!
And now the irony of my day..... I just finished eating my dinner while watching THE BIGGEST LOOSER and I am thinking about a cookie...
