Happy Easter (updated)

I was annoyed at 3:45am when Espen decided he needed to be cuddled & have some milk because I was tired & knew I'd have a hard time going back to sleep. And I did... but at 7:30am the sun was streaming into the room and I was thinking he let us sleep in on Easter! NICE! He slept until 7:45! Then daddy went to get him & all I heard was the sounds of some struggles! So instead of helping I left them to it! And it seems like there was an explosion of poo... the baby, the bed, the changing table, some clothes.... the next thing was the baby was coming to the bathroom in just a diaper. I was in the bathroom but in a position where I was not able to be helpful. Gate blocking stairs was open, water for cats/dogs sitting FULL within his reach... lots of danger and NO daddy. Well Espen chose the water over the stairs and spilled water all over the bathroom & himself & was INCREDIBLY happy doing so! Well I was finally able to help & there was daddy GROUCHY because he had to change poo on easter & then he saw the wet baby who was so happy & the mess all over the floor!! Geesh he was not happy about that either. But I was actually secretly amused. But I just reminded him that he needed to watch the stairs.... :) HAHEAHE HAPPY EASTER!!! We finally got all the mess cleaned up & Espen dressed! These things happen... oh yess they do!!

Espen has also discovered that if he pitches a fit (an he can) someone will let him play on the couch. IT IS NOT ME. And for a week some people have been helping him to get up there!! And this morning when I didn't want to play on the couch, he stomped his little feet, threw himself on the floor and cried... stood right back up and did it again... I cracked up!! And I realize that the little boy will have an independent streak bigger than necessary and there will be struggles!! But I won ~ there was no couch play with mommy and the fit went away.

Espen did get an Easter basket this morning... and it garnered an "OOOHHH" and a surprised look!

And now it is 10:30 in the morning & I am thinking about what the rest of my day will bring!

So as you go about your day ~ enjoy your family! I know I will be..... and we'll go into the sun and smile at the odd things that happen!

We went for a walk ~ it was glorious! Dogs & people were happy! We played. I cooked & baked. I decided to make deviled eggs out of the 2 decorated Easter Eggs we did... and what is easter exactly without BLUE deviled eggs? They of course were delish!! Espen even enjoyed some.... We ate together. We took the dumbest looking family easter photo.... I guess there was no need to "get dressed" today so we look kind of ROUGH... but hey HAPPY DAY anyway!

We broke a toy that Grandma sent... it is a windup jumping egg. Some how MOMMY wound it to tight & it jumped off the table & never worked again. Can't explain that to a 10 month old... dang it... so we practiced our throwing. Since the jumping egg didn't work, we threw it.

Now we sit at the end of Espen's first Easter at 6:15pm thinking it was a good day and marveling at the cracks of thunder passing overhead that are freaking the dogs out but not even bothering Espen (YET). So we are going to watch HURT LOCKER (hope it is good).

And tomorrow Daddy heads back to Nebraska and we start another count down ... we hope that this deal closes on April 26.... it will be the weirdest miracle ever! It would be quite fantastic to have everyone under the same roof again!
