Swim Lessons End
Swim lessons are over. He had tons of fun & I am going to see if the indoor pool has an upcoming lesson for the fall/winter. The BIG water slides were by far his favorite part and you could hear him laughing all the way down the slide! He has little fear & will walk right into the deep water & jump up & down submerging himself. Freaks other moms out but I'm pretty relaxed about it. Don't want my fear of him drowning to make him afraid of the water. But he had fun at the pool for swim lessons! The insturctor had this to say...
Espen is the most daring swimmer I've ever seen! He's such a great swimmer & isn't afraid to get wet! Great work! Have a wonderful summer!
So now we must find something else to occupy our time with! We are going to find the library & start practicing for story time with friends. That whole sitting still thing is not so easy!
And on another COMPLETEY different NOTE.....I have been researching constipation in children. It seems we have a little boy who has had a HORRIBLE time with bowel movements since he was about 5 months old. He will push & push & strain & cry & nothing happens. Since we have made the slow switch to all cow milk it has gotten worse... much worse. So I've researched.... and I've found a list of foods that help. And a list of foods that don't. And wouldn't you know it ~ milk, cheese, yogurt, ice cream and carrots are at the TOP of the list of foods that make the situation worse. Oddly the recommendations include warm baths and letting them poop in the tub. And for Espen the last few nights this has almost been the situation. Poor baby... but thankfully, Doug has been doing bath time!! But the recommendation suggests that a warm bath relaxes the muscles & allows for better passage. I'd say it works!
I am hopeful that with the right foods in his diet we won't have poop in the bath. And I've switched one of his cow milk bottles/sippys to soy milk. I add 2 oz of prune juice to another & the 3rd is just plain milk. I realize that he should be weaned from a bottle BUT he is one of the children that only has one before a nap or bed & he won't hold the bottle.... some odd thing... he just lets us hold it. Easier for him to hold ducky!
IF you have any suggestions... I'm looking for them!! This baby should not hurt so much to go poop.... and I'm hopeful that if we can get a handle on it now... it will be less painful to potty train!! Forward thinking!! And if you need some suggestions... I HAVE THEM!!
Sounds fun! Cant wait to go swimming with him! :)

Apple juice usually keeps things moving, we had to do half water/half apple juice with Kaci because drinking it straight had the opposite effect (runny, icky up her back poop).....she loved it so much she would have a sippy of milk in one hand and a sippy of apple juice in the other - kinda gross, but it certainly kept her regular....good luck!!
