The greatest gift I have at this moment is the joy of reading book after book to Espen. He has no favorite so he is happy to "choose" and sit in my lap and read. His little head smells like little boy or food or shampoo. His little body wiggles in sheer delight. He helps with page turning & points at stuff. It is a real gift of which I am truely greatful to have. And I will stop any thing I am doing to read a book.
Well... the saga with my boarder continues... he came back from a tourney with a BROKEN ARM. He played a game on it and slept on it that night. Then was in pain & went to the ER. It is wrapped in a soft wrap tonight & he was given enough pain meds to last through today. He reports that his ulna is broken in half & splintered. No not set yet. Yes it is painful. He was instructed by the coaches to not contact the team DR. until they did so for him. He patiently waited all day for the coaches to contact him to no avail. So finally he contacted the team DR's son who is on the team as well. He now has an appointment for tomorrow afternoon. REALLY... this injury happened Sunday late afternoon. The "oh we'll get to it tomorrow" attitude makes me worried. So Doug insisted tonight that if he hadn't heard from team DR by tomorrow we were going to seek other medical attention.
In the meantime.... I've spent lots of time today speaking to him about what he intends to do for the next few weeks. He wants to stay & be part of the team as best he can. He has a little job at the hockey center that he wants to keep helping with. He wants to heal & get back in the game. My concern is that he is just here sitting around doing nothing for weeks. AND THAT will not be cool or fun for me or the baby. And it won't be happening. So Doug & I have agreed that we will wait the week before we contact the man who placed him here. So we can see his healing time. I continue to have patience. It is what I do.
This afternoon I stopped being so worried about him & the situation. He chose to sit downstairs watching TV & of course Espen wanted to be down there with him. Espen tries so hard to get his attention. So I played downstairs with Espen, read books & generally was just downstairs. I had things to do though so I left Espen down and let the 2 of them figure it out. Neither of them got hurt! So I did my stuff upstairs & listened intently to what was going on. I can't just keep Espen away all the time!!
