Today we were up early & out getting a gift at Bass Pro. Then we had a lovely play date.... we went to a home in the Underwood area.... it was beautiful. And had Espen been in a better mood, I imagine he would have had more fun... he was outside of himself today. It is the best way I know to describe it... he has a funny rash (yes yes we went to the dr)... and we are waiting it out (he has yet to be on ANY medication other than tylenol)... and the rash today was bugging him (his skin & his personality).... so it was a fun time but he could have been in better spirits! Then we had lunch with Kellie for her birthday.... and that was nice food & good company... except for Espen who refused to eat or drink or let me take his sweater off... so he was fussing the whole time... LOUDLY... UGH!! Anders has left for Norway for a couple weeks and he prepared for that and Espen took a nap. I visited with Jane (who is spending the night here). Espen woke up still grouchy and upset. Nothing soothed him. I was getting sort of concerned... we had not seen my beautiful baby smile all day.... and frankly, we were loosing our patience with the crying and fussing... Then about 5pm, after I gave him a taco he went back outside & got slowly into the giant dog water tank... the water must have been cold but it must have felt great to him... I decided to take off his clothes & just let him play in the water... so he played for about 30 minutes in the cold water totally naked.... he was so FREAKING HAPPY... my baby was back!! He was smiling, hugging, laughing, calm, hungry.... He went to the hair salon even with me & Target and kept smiling... he ate another taco with daddy, he played quietly, he took a long cool bath and we put ointment all over his little rashy body... and he smiled. He sat so nicely on my lap I snuggled him & enjoyed my baby again... (a good way to end my long day ~ wish Anders had some of that too because he also felt like Espen was not himself & he missed the happy baby)... He snuggled into his bed and quietly went to sleep at the end of the day... That cold water may make him sick with a head cold or maybe not... he may have been freaking hot all day & had no way of telling me.... he cooled himself off though & his attitude was much improved... And tomorrow is a new day... A busy day with a doctor appointment & helping my mother-in-law.... And hopefully Espen wakes up in a good space, with less rash than tonight...
