5K the HARD Way!!
I signed up for 5K the HARD Way when my "running pal" found it! I had not heard of it, but I was not disappointed! This event was a little town's version of an obstacle mud run. From the "Wineding Road" which went through some grapes that were to be for future wine, or the "Goodyear Canyon" which comprised of a tire wall and asked if you were "Tired yet?" it was great! Because of the rain, even more obstacles than planned provided us with the chance to get muddy. At an early obstacle we went straight into a creek and we were WET!
Then the highlight... We entered The Jungle, and were treated to a drizzling rain and a trip down a 100 foot slide into a mud pit! We were seriously unable to control our speed and ended up covered in mud! Humoursly, after the slide there was a jungle bar and we could enjoy a MONSTER, BUD LIGHT or water shot! Of course I had beer and we kept on going! (I'm the third person down the slide in the video & my pal is after me.... no one is hurt but it looks like it)...
We continued on through obstacles which made us choose "The Hard Way" or "The Other Way". Either way was a challenge, but we went with HARD! To get to the finish line we had to climb, crawl, be assaulted by a water hose and run. The whole while we were slipping in the mud and muck while it rained off and on! I was certainly thankful for my baseball hat. It felt hard to run and my lungs were burning. Had taken a break from exercise and I felt it!
We finally end up at the finish line and were handed a medal. Pretty cool for a small course. I loved the bus which was the second obstacle along the course, just after the fire department sprayed us with water! The bus was brghtly colored and slippery from the rain. It was thrilling! I also LOVED the warm dirty pool of water to jump into when we finished to clean up in... surprised it was warm on a chilly day!
I definitely recommend this event since it's an obstacle/mud event that is totally LOCAL and absolutely FUN! It seemed like these planners cared about making it a great day for everyone!

And now we are off to run the MUD FACTOR in September. Should be as exciting! And in October I'm doing one with my sisters! And November the Beer & Bagel and maybe the DOOMSDAY run on December 21.....
