my crazy life

It has been no secret that my life is a series of serendipitous mis-adventures (occurring by chance in a happy way).  It should come as no surprise or shock when I tell you that over the last 12 days I have had one weird occurrence after another.... Let me start with today and work backwards....

I have this wild border collie who is actually a very good dog.  I spend most of my time alone with him and he is amazingly entertaining and easy going.  He is weird for certain but because he can see the fairies and such I forgive his odd behaviors!  We have become in the habit of taking Espen to school and then going to the nearby lake and walking.  It is a quiet walk in the mornings; beautiful and peaceful.

Today I decided to veer off the road and take the trail.  The trail follows the river and is surprisingly quite removed from any human contact.  Mind you no one knows where I walk, when I walk and no one really expects me at any place or time.  It was beautiful with the brown leaves and water flowing.  I actually stopped to take a picture of the trail and of myself showing where we had just been.  Just after I zipped my phone back into my pocket and we started on the trail again, Ole freaked.  First his hackles raised and he stopped dead still.  He looked into the woods and went crazy.  Not like a “let me go investigate” bark but like a “GET THE HELL OUT OF HERE” bark.  I do not know what it was or what he saw but I panicked and RAN.  That’s right.... for no visual reason, I ran.   The dog did not hesitate to drag me along for a good distance.  And then I fell.... yea... I FELL.... I was on a trail covered with leaves running from an unknown threat and I stumbled and fell.  I felt like we were in The Hunger Games and I was probably going to be the first to die.   Ole proceeded to give me some licks of encouragement and I stumbled up.  He looked around and was back to normal, no sign of threat and we walked on.  I kept one eye in front of us and one behind us because I still had no idea what had happened.  Then I saw something red hanging in the distance and we slowly approached.  At this point you may be wondering why I was still on the dang trail..... the only way was the way we had come (which clearly was dangerous) or the way we were going.  Yes I could have cut through off the trail and very quickly been on the road however I am terrified of getting a posion plant rash so I stay right on the trail....  So ahead is something red... I see it is a clothing garment of some sort hanging on a branch or something.  The dog is still fine.  And all of a sudden THIS is in our path....
Some sort of scrap wood shelter.  Holy mamma.... we walked real fast.  And were thankfully back on the road very quickly.  Not that it especially mattered today as the campground is deserted and we were still isolated.  But on the road I could see if someone was after us!!  I have no idea what spooked the dog.  Nor any idea why I decided to just RUN.... my knee hurts.  If there was a person out there (the structure suggests someone may have been) I hope they got a great laugh for their weekend!!

****** Tale #2
We are in the midst of selling and buying in 2 states.  There is no predictable way for anyone to control what happens to me.  NONE.  ZIP.  NO FREAKING CONTROL. I continue to work one shift a week at an amazing diner.  It is super fun to meet people and I am blessed to be surrounded by the ladies who work there.  This week I was working my shift and the place was pretty busy.  In the door waltzed 3 eccentric ladies full of joking and laughter.  They were settled with drinks and food and continued to have a great time together.  As they were preparing to leave they asked me if I could help them to find an address on Stoneridge Dr.  I laughed and told them that I hoped so since I live on Stoneridge!  Ohh they were trying to drive by a house their friend bought from a young family who thought it would be their forever home but are being transferred.  I just cracked up... they were looking for MY HOUSE.... of course I drew them a map.  I can be friendly.  I expressed my desire for the new owners to be happy because it was really hard for me to sell it.  I tried to continue working when suddenly one of the ladies thrust a phone at me and said “here talk to Candy, she wants to thank you”.... Candy is who bought the house.... Oh my goodness... So I chatted with her about her plans and her eagerness for a couple minutes.  The three paid and were leaving when one said... “Candy wanted us to take a picture with you...”.... so yep I took a selfie with the group.

Nothing in the world can predict what will happen in my life....

****** Tale #3
Same kind of weird... Last weekend we were in Oklahoma for the home inspection.  We had Espen with us who is going through his own weird patch (it is a lot for anyone, but for a child it is even more dramatic).  So we discovered he had pocketed something that did not belong to him.  We reached our agent and told her we were going to leave the item on the porch.  I left an apology and had him also leave one.  I included my name and cell, manners called me to do that.  Before we knew it, they texted me.  So we had a short conversation about my embarrassment and that the home is lovely....
