Happy New Year 2020
I have had nearly a year without a blog post. How did that happen? It is a new year with new opportunities; but let me tell you how I did last year on my goals....
I wanted to do MUG MONDAY... I failed. Because I do not like to make mugs. I hate them actually. I did however make over 50 DOODLE MUGS (mugs with out a handle that children draw pictures on). The rest of my plan to work on mugs failed. Maybe I will try this year but with less pressure, because I hate mugs!
I wanted to limit my social media time. I was quite successful for long stretches of time. I engaged my business more, I attempted instagram more and I surfed less. I would say overall I did much better at putting my gadgets away and being present.
I intended to get the dogs and kid out to trails and areas to explore. In the warm months, we managed to do that. In the cold, we hibernated. We can do better I think; it just takes planning and preparation on my part but once we are out, everyone loves it.
Lastly I wanted to make memories with my family and explore. We definitely did that! Those are happy goals, easy to meet!
We are now in 2020. I have sat down and really thought of goals, aspirations and realistic achievements. In order for any of us to be accountable, we have to outline those goals in real fashions. If you have not done that, do it... This year I picked a day planner than is a goal setting notebook. Places for me to write, doodle, track monthly and yearly goals. Here is what I intend to do this year....
1. Be present. With my family first and foremost. With the people I enjoy. In person. Soak in the moments and memories. Just be present.
2. Be creative. Spend time in the studio. Spend time with a journal, a postcard, a pad of paper. Spend time looking at new ideas in a variety of forms. Open my mind to new creative ideas. Say YES to things that make me happy and inventive. I have set some large pottery goals and have already started to work toward them. Creating makes my heart happy.
3. Be active. Encourage activity. For my own health and that of my little family. But more than just being active; search out new and engaging activities. Schedule trips around said activities as we can afford to do so with resources and time. The world is a big place and we should actively seek to explore it.
4. Be mindful of my time, talents and interests. Allow myself grace in saying NO to things that do not interest me. Recognize that the drama of small town life and social media are draining and not something I need to engage in for my own sanity. Be engaged in the things I choose to be engaged in because I enjoy and can make a difference by utilizing my time, talents and interests.
5. Use my platforms to continue telling our story. I seemed to have taken a year off, perhaps no one missed the tales. I did. The blogs, the engaging tales, the photos all tell a story of our journey, our life. This year I seek to engage myself in telling the stories.
And with that my friends... let me go get started on the things! Many blessings to each of you... set your goals... aim high. I have!
